This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group®, All You® and Real Simple® but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #SpringintoMeTime http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV
I am always anxious to switch things up in the spring— my wardrobe, my hair, and definitely our home decor. This year, I’ve been feeling the itch for a refresh more than ever. Since we moved into our new place last month, I’ve been a little on the stressed side. The lease on our old apartment isn’t up until the beginning of next month, so we’ve been moving our stuff over little by little. Most of the big items are in place now, but I’ve found myself on more than one occasion not knowing where my can opener is, or wishing that I had remembered to bring over some of my crafting supplies. We’ve been living in disarray, and for someone who likes all her ducks in a row, it’s been a little rough.
We moved closer to a lot of great places, namely my hubby’s workplace and the beach. But what really sold me, is our proximity to Target. Like, walking distance proximity. A really quick walk. The weather here has been so amazing lately, and last week I decided that I deserved a little time to myself, so I stepped out into the sunshine and took my hop, skip and a jump over to Target.
While I was there I picked up the latest issues of Real Simple® and All You® magazines. I was hoping that they would inspire me to start making our new place feel less like a warehouse and more like a home. And inspire me they did. Here’s a little peek at our new and improved master bedroom:
Before I started, I did a little cleaning up. I love that our new place has hardwood floors— we were so over the carpet. The only downside is, the dust bunnies have nowhere to hide, which means more frequent cleanings. All You® must have been feeling my struggle, because they gave me some great solutions for getting up all that dust that hides under the furniture. Once I was done getting rid of all the dust bunnies (mostly kitty hair, of course), it was time for the fun part!
Real Simple® had all the tips I was looking for on how to smartly style a bedroom. The article I read motivated me to update our bedside lamps to something a little more modern, and to add some artwork above the headboard.
The Real Simple® bedroom mini-makeover guide also offered some great tips on nightstand styling. How did I do?
I designed these three art prints to put above our bed, using Real Simple®’s guidelines. I love how they came out— and I even managed to hang them (pretty) straight.
Getting some “me” time and putting our bedroom in order has definitely restored a bit of my sanity. Who knew that a little light reading was all it took to inspire me!
