Your weekly free printable inspirational quote awaits!
My family and friends often describe me as a calm person. Even on my wedding day, on the limo ride from my parents’ house to the church, all of my bridesmaids were discussing how nervous they were to walk down the aisle, before turning to me, (with my elbows resting on the back of my seat, and my feet up, in a very relaxed fashion), and demanded to know why I was the only one who wasn’t freaking out.
I definitely deal with my own share of frustrations, conflicts and fears, but hate the feeling of tension and try to avoid getting myself upset over things that are out of my control. Just before I sat down to write this blog post, I received a message from a reader who asked me to remove them from my mailing list and to let me know that they were marking me as a spammer. I understand that this is just something that goes with the territory of putting yourself out there, but these types of messages are still really hurtful to read, and hard not to take personally. Fellow bloggers and online entrepreneurs, I know you can sympathize!
Whenever I am faced with a mini-frustration like that email, or a large frustration like a disagreement with a family member, I try to keep myself in check and always think, big picture: is this something that I’m going to care about, or even remember in a month from now— or a week, or tomorrow? If the answer is no, then it’s not worth my energy to get upset over. It also helps to take a step away from the situation— to go out for a walk, to take some deep breaths or to say a little prayer to re-center and remind myself that life is too short to spend it being cranky.
This week, I am wishing you an abundance of peace. Cast all those frustrations out there, and surround yourself with the people and things that make you happiest.
