A couple months ago, one of my best friends approached me about an exciting new project she was working on; a blog dedicated to “the art and adventures of motherhood”. Even back in college, we referred to her as “Momma Mae”— a nickname which could be attributed to her mothering tendencies and her knack for keeping us out of trouble (most of the time). Since we have graduated, she has moved on from mothering her friends to mothering actual children— her adorable little girls “munchkin” and “peanut”. Between her experiences in education, her A+ mothering skills, and love for technology, I knew that a blog would be a perfect platform for her to share her knowledge and experiences with other moms. All that was needed was a logo to encompass everything that is Mae.
Step one in the logo development process was unique in that I already knew my client very well. I skipped over asking “what is your style and what is your vision?” and got to hop right into some ideas. Here are the first two concepts I came up with:
Mae was immediately drawn to the second option because the three figures so closely resemble her and her girls. This option also offered adaptability. We agreed that as her kids grow and change their look, (eventually “peanut” is going to get sick of being held) we can adapt the circle and swap in new silhouettes while still maintaining the structure of the logo. On to color options!
Mae loved all of the color choices but in the end, one stuck out to her more than the others. Here is winner:
Which is your favorite? Did Momma Mae make the right choice? Go check out her blog and let her know! Don’t forget to like her Facebook page and follow her on Twitter as well.
