Your weekly free printable inspirational quote awaits!
Though I’ve been known to kill a plant or two (okay, all of them), gardening is in my blood. My mom’s family immigrated from Italy, and they brought their mad farming skills with them to the states. All of my aunts + uncles have epic gardens that take up most of their yards, and that are brimming with fresh fruits + vegetables, herbs and flowers.
After my grandma passed away, my grandpa moved in with our family. It was really hard for him to leave his amazing garden behind, but he soon took over as “head gardener” of my mom’s (like she had a choice!). It was so special to see the two of them work together for so many years in tending, weeding, watering and caring for their plants.
That garden is my grandpa’s legacy. When he passed away at age 97, his plants lived on— delighting us with their beauty and nourishing us with the food made from those fresh ingredients. Rose plants that my grandma grew were transferred to my mom’s house, and we still get fresh blooms every spring.
To plant a garden isn’t just believing in your tomorrows, but the tomorrows of everyone you love.
