I have a lot to be thankful for in my life, but I don’t always recognize it (which is something I’m really not proud of). Lately, I’ve been trying to turn this around. Every morning for the last few months, I’ve made it a point to take just a few moments to practice gratitude, thanking God for all that’s been given to me. This small ritual has programmed me to start looking for the good, even in those not-so-fun moments.
For example, when I find myself grumbling about having to do laundry, I am reminded that it’s a blessing to have clothes to wash, and my very own washing machine to wash them in. When I’m dealing with a difficult client, I feel gratitude for even having a job, and try to use the experience as an opportunity to improve the way my business is run.
I know it’s not always easy to see the good in everything— especially in those really tough times, like having your heart broken or losing a loved one— but if we can focus on finding joy in the small stuff, it might make it just a little easier to get through those hard moments. What are ways you practice gratitude in your life?
