UPDATE: Designs from this post are now available in our Etsy shop! Yeay!
You’ve heard me yapping enough about preparations for my sister’s bridal shower, so you can imagine how excited I am to reveal some photos from the big day! The bridesmaids did a lot of brainstorming to come up with a theme that really encompassed Lisa. Once we chose Del’Arte Restaurant in Orangeburg, NY as the venue, one of the ideas on our list jumped right off the page. Since our family is super Italian and Lisa is an artist (who spent a semester in Florence in college), we decided that an Italian-themed bridal shower would be the perfect fit.
We created an extensive Pinterest board with lots of ideas and I kept coming back around to an image that my sister Laura pinned of a Pellegrino Limonata bottle. I ran with that as inspiration, and created this invitation, as well as some fun paper goods for the day of the event, including matching gift tags and bridal shower games. We tied the gift tags to the awesome favors that my sister Allison found (a hand-painted spoon rest) and presented the games in a red panel pocket, with a yellow pencil, attached with twine. You can see those photos toward the end of the post!
For the rest of the bridal shower decor, we created centerpieces using fresh lemons and leaves in glass vases. Instead of table numbers, we used postcards from different cities in Italy. The escort cards were also designed to match the rest of the shower stationery and were held up by wine corks (which my cousin Danielle cut all by hand – and she had the blisters to show!). We used the extra corks we had as photo holders and scattered pictures of Lisa at different ages on each table. The tables were also adorned with beautiful red damask table runners that we made ourselves. The finishing touch on the tables were bottles of Pellegrino— the starting point for our inspiration!
The bridal shower day was just perfect. Lisa was a glowing bride-to-be! We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with yummy food, wine, family and friends. Next up for the bridesmaid squad is planning the bachelorette weekend! We can’t wait!
