2012 has been a great year for my business and as a thank you to all of those who have supported me I’d like begin offering some free goodies. I will start on a monthly basis and possibly move over to a bi-monthly schedule if there is enough of a demand.
I decided to start with some DIY bookmarks. A couple friends and I recently started a book club and I have been using receipts and odds and ends instead of a bookmark, so admittedly, this giveaway is just as much for me as it is for you! For those of you who are scared off by DIY projects, don’t be…this is an easy one. Here is what you will need:
Printable template
White Card Stock or paper that is on the heavier side
Exacto knife, cutting mat and ruler (recommended) or scissors
Hole Punch
Ribbon (optional)
Simply print out the downloaded PDF. If you are using a heavier stock, poke around with your printer settings and look for a setting that allows you to choose the type of paper you are using. Mine is under Print Settings > Finishing > Media Type (I selected “Heavy”). All printers are different, so if you can’t find it, don’t sweat it…it will still print for you!
Use a scissor or an exacto knife and ruler to trim out the bookmarks.
Don’t they look pretty? If you would like to add a ribbon, the next step is to punch a hole where you see a circle at the top, and loop a little bit of ribbon through it. I had some white ribbon leftover from another project, but feel free to use any color ribbon or even some string or twine. I cut about 9.5 inches of ribbon for each, made a loop, and fed it through the hole. Take the two ends and pull it through the loop to make a knot.
And voila! You are done!
And into my book it goes. We are reading Stephen King’s 11/22/63 in case anybody is wondering! Now I just need to convince my kitties that these aren’t cat toys.
Please feel free to pin or pass along to family and friends. I’d also love to hear some suggestions or requests for next month’s giveaway in the comments section below. Happy Reading!
