Welcome to month 9 of the Elegance and Enchantment Creative Challenge! If you are just stumbling across this post and want to read more about the origins of the challenge and how you can get involved, I encourage you to start with this post. You can check out recaps from our other challenges here:
Challenge 1 // Challenge 2 // Challenge 3 // Challenge 4 // Challenge 5 // Challenge 6 // Challenge 7
Challenge 9 will take place from September 11th – October 9th, but please take extra days if you need them. I’m really excited about this challenge because it’s the one that encourages us to take the creativity factor and dial it up to 11. Mixed media is all about taking whatever art supplies you have on hand and combining them to make whatever you want. Since we are 8 months into this journey, it’s a great opportunity to look back on what you have created and revisit the mediums that made you the happiest. Sky’s the limit, friends!
The fabulous members of the Creative Challenge Community are definitely going to bring their A game to this challenge— I just know it!
If you’re like me, when there are no “rules” and limitless opportunity it may leave you feeling a bit uncomfortable and unsure as to where or how to get started. Here are a few ideas to get those creative juices flowing:
1. Create a piece of abstract art for your home using paper, paint, glitter, glue, or whatever you have on hand, to make a collage.
2. Refinish or reimagine a piece of furniture with a new paint color and fixtures.
3. Design some scrapbook pages or try your hand at Bible Journaling
4. Make your own hand made stationery by combining materials like watercolor, calligraphy and stamps
5. Dream up a new piece of Autumn decor whether it be a wreath, centerpiece for your table, or something to hang on the wall.
If you are trying out something new, here are my go-to websites for learning the tricks of the trade:
– Craftsy.com
– Pinterest
– Skillshare
– Lynda.com
– Classes at your local town center, museum, or adult continuing education
Need to stock up on materials? Here are a few places to check out:
