Welcome to month 8 of the Elegance and Enchantment Creative Challenge! If you are just stumbling across this post and want to read more about the origins of the challenge and how you can get involved, I encourage you to start with this post. You can check out recaps from our other challenges here:
Challenge 1 // Challenge 2 // Challenge 3 // Challenge 4 // Challenge 5 // Challenge 6
Challenge 8 will take place from August 14th – September 11th, but please take extra days if you need them. Guys, I’ve got to be honest. I’m not looking forward to this challenge as much as the others, and I have no plan of action. I think what’s holding me back most is that I hate getting my hands dirty, (even in the name of art). In order to move forward, I either need to get over it or invest in a really pretty pair of gloves!
I’ll be depending on the awesome members of the Creative Challenge Community to keep me encouraged this month. They never cease to pull out all the stops and I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with for this challenge.
If you’re also struggling to get excited or started, here are a few ideas I’ve come up with to get the creative juices flowing:
1. Keep it simple and easy. Attend a pottery-painting class in your local area. Pottery is in the title— it counts!
2. Find a local studio that offers pottery classes with good old fashioned pottery wheel and kiln.
3. Get the kids involved in creative play with homemade play dough or polymer clay.
4. Create a new piece of art for your home in the form of a sculpture made from wood scraps or other objects you already have on hand.
5. Get crazy with papier-mâché, whether it’s creating a fun new piece for your home, or your kids.
