Welcome to month 5 of the Elegance and Enchantment Creative Challenge! If you are just stumbling across this post and want to read more about the origins of the challenge and how you can get involved, I encourage you to start with this post. You can check out recaps from our other challenges here:
Challenge 1 // Challenge 2 // Challenge 3
Challenge 5 will take place from May 8th – June 12th, but please take extra days if you need them. During this time frame I challenge you roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty. This one is all about gardening! I come from a family of amazing gardeners, starting with my mom and going back many generations. This talent seemed to have skipped a generation because I’ve never met a plant I haven’t killed. I’ll be leaning on the support of the Creative Challenge Community during this one, for sure!
I plan on taking a little bit of creative liberty during this challenge. Your project doesn’t need to be as black and white as buying plants and putting them in dirt. Here are some ideas for you to try:
1. Plant some of your favorite fruits and vegetables. You’ll not only have fresh produce, but you’ll be saving money at the supermarket, too!
2. Transform your patio or porch into a cozy oasis with some greenery and florals.
3. Create a multi-tier herb garden and use them to cook all summer long.
4. Keep your home smelling pretty and looking magazine-worthy with a bouquet of fresh flowers, arranged by you!
5. Hop on the trend train and create a succulent garden or arrangement.
If you also have a black thumb, and could use a few tutorials to get started, here are some resources:
– Pinterest Tutorials
– Craftsy Tutorials
– Classes at your local hardware store
– Classes at your local town center, museum, or adult continuing education
Need to stock up on materials? Here are a few places to check out:
– Amazon’s Gardening Dept.
– Your local nursery or hardware store
This challenge is super open ended, so I’d love to see some true creativity.
