Welcome to month 3 of the Elegance and Enchantment Creative Challenge! If you are just stumbling across this post and want to read more about the origins of the challenge and how you can get involved, I encourage you to start with this post. A recap of Challenge One { needle crafts } can be found here. The results of our last Challenge { watercolor }, will be posted next week.
Challenge 3 will take place from March 13th – April 10th, but please take extra time if you need it. During this time frame I challenge you to explore paper flower crafting! I’m looking forward to dusting off my Silhouette machine for this one. Here are a few ideas to kick things off:
1. Create a new wreath for your front door, made of paper flowers.
2. Skip the fresh flowers on Mother’s Day and design Mom a bouquet that will last forever!
3. Add some spring decor for your home by creating a paper flower garland for an entryway or doorframe.
4. Construct a headband or crown of paper flowers for your daughter or yourself.
5. Create paper flower embellishments to be used in gift wrapping.
If you think you may need some help with technique or how to get started, consider following an online tutorial or taking a local class:
– Silhouette Tutorials
– Pinterest Tutorials
– Craftsy Tutorials
– Lia Griffith Blog Tutorials (my favorite)
– Classes at your local craft store like Jo-Ann Fabrics, Michaels, or AC Moore
– Classes at your local town center, museum, or adult continuing education
Need to stock up on materials? Here are a few places to check out:
– Amazon’s Arts, Crafts & Sewing Department
– Etsy Marketplace
– Your local art/craft store
If you are on a budget, you can still participate, just by being a little innovative! There are quite a few tutorials I’ve seen floating around Pinterest that show you how to make paper flowers using items you probably already have in your home, like napkins, coffee filters or baking cups.
Remember to share your creative projects with the community!
1. Join the official Creative Challenge Facebook Group
Ask questions about technique, share your struggles and show off your progress
2. Collaborate in the Creative Challenge Pinterest Board
Share your favorite projects, tips and tutorials. Please request to contribute to this board by following the board, following me, and leaving a comment on one of the board’s pins asking to be added. All are welcome!
3. Use the hashtag #EECreativeChallenge
Snap photos of your work and share on Instagram
4. Write your own blog posts chronicling your creative journey
I’m happy to promote, pin and share!
I’m super excited to see what everyone creates! Have fun!
